Review of… Etude Houses Moistfull Collagen Cream

Getting the perfect moisturiser that fits your skin is extremely difficult and I’ve struggled with it for years, some are too thick, some aren’t thick enough, and some break me out. So when I bought my first haul from Korea, I knew I needed to buy a moisturiser to see if they had the one for me. Turns out, they did. Let’s jump into my review of Etude Houses Moistfull Collagen Cream.

The product.

This product is the last step of your skincare routine, it promises to hydrate your skin, improve the level of hydration between layers of the skin, and to last hours once applied without the need to be reapplied. It is a gel like consistency which will ‘leave your skin feeling like jelly’ Etude House claims. The ingredients in this product are Hydrolysed Collagen, Butylene Glycol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Glycerin, Cyclohexasiloxane, Glyceryl Polymethacrylate, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Adansonia Digitata Fruit Extract, Adansonia Digitata Seed Oil, Betaine, Kaolin, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Pca Dimethicone, Dimethiconol, Glyceryl Stearate, Sodium Polyacrylate, Stearic Acid, Silica, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/Vp Copolymer, Poloxamer 407, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Phytantriol, Ppg-5-Laureth-5, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Alcohol, Water, Disodium Edta, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance.

There are two ingredients in this list that I’d like to discuss and they are hydrolysed collagen and Glycerin.

Collagen is a protein that the body creates to help give us strength. It strengthens the skin, tendons, bones etc. The collagen in our skin helps with elasticity and helps to keep our skin firm and young looking, this is why you should always pat your skincare in and never rub as rubbing helps to break down collagen and leaves you with stretchy and loose skin. Hydrolysed collagen is what is in this cream, and hydrolysed collagen is made of small amino acids. It helps the skin to create it’s own collagen. Glycerin is a compound that can be found in many products like primers as it is sticky and tacky, making it easier for makeup to sit on top of and to last.

The packaging of this collection is beautiful. It’s compact, making it easy to travel with, it’s classy and the colours are very pretty. I’d rate this product 5/5 stars just for the packaging but something that Etude House always get right is the packaging of their products.

The performance of this moisturiser is outstanding. As the last step of my skincare routine both in the morning and at night, I add a generous layer. I like the feeling of having a thick moisturiser on throughout the day as I don’t tend to wear a lot of makeup and I really feel the benefit from it. Depending on how dry my skin is affects how quickly it sinks in. If my skin isn’t too dry, it can take anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes, but if my skin is particularly dry then it can take under 10 minutes. It’s a gel, so it’s easy to spread across the face and it feels luxurious on the skin. However this is quite a thick and heavy moisturiser. As we’re moving into the spring/summer months, I’ll probably move to a lighter moisturiser so it doesn’t feel as tacky and heavy but during the autumn/winter months this product is perfect.  Glycerin is one of the big ingredients in this product so it works perfectly as a moisturiser before makeup, and the makeup will last all day. Though the scent of this product is very light and subtle, it lasts meaning that people who don’t enjoy fragranced products may not enjoy this product to it’s full potential.

Something I’m always on the look out for when looking for skincare is moisturisers because my skin is extremely dry. Any moisturisers that can promise me soft, smooth skin can take all of my money. That is exactly what this cream does. It is gentle on the skin but gives me soft, moisturised, ‘jelly like’ skin and it also gives me a beautiful healthy glow. This product is part of a collection that Etude House brought out and it makes me intrigued to try the other products in the collection because this one works so well. I’d give this product 5/5 in autumn/winter, 3/5 spring/summer as the product is extremely heavy and can be felt on the skin. Let me know if you have this product and what you thought of it!

Bye for now!~^^~
